ZigBee Hype There are various applications of Zigbee in use today but wireless sensor applications and home/industry automation are the primary areas of progressing research. Though there are various Zigbee products being sold, a great deal of research is still being conducted today; for example, Duolog Technologies has recently gained funding from the Marie Curie Transfer of Knowledge Program to carry out Zigbee based research over the next three years. http://www.duolog.com/menu.asp?Menu=195 Currently, there is not a standard for these industry and home sensing technologies but researchers are confident that there will soon be a standard due to the amount of work and research being done with Zigbee. http://www.manufacturing.net/ctl/article/CA6385633.html?ref=nbcs Figure 1 shows some elements of ZigBee as well as other emerging technologies, as they were in the cycle in July 2003.
