October 1st , 2000 Sunday ---- National Day Party !!
Time: 6:30PM-9:30PM, Sunday, October 1st, 2000
Place: Marshell Conference Room , UAB
Dear Friends:
There will a big celebration this Sunday( Oct.1 ) evening ( 6:30PM-9:30PM) at Marshell Conference Room. This is a 2-in-1 celebration which combine National Day Celebration and New Comer Welcome Celebration. Please not there is some new changes this year:
- 1) Site change, please be informed that this year we are not at International House. We got a spacious room at Marshell Conference Room( 802 11street South, close to tennis court) which mean we can accomdate more people, and have more fun.
- 2) Games change, this year, we divide the site into three sections, Karaoke, Riddle contest and fun game which start simutaneously from 6:45-8:45PM. We also have Lucky Lottery which have bunches of prizes, come on, try your luck. Finally we have dance party from 8:45 to 9:30PM.
- 3) Special service to New Comers, this year, we have an additional section offered to new comer, we try to solve all of problem/difficulties you might meet in the USA, such as, how to get a credit card easily/effectively, how to find an economic way for travelling, how/where to buy a car, where is the most romantic resturant in birmigham, I bet you need to know. Bring your question and solve your problem there this sunday.
And there is more, more............ waiting for you.

P.S. We do not offer pick up this time, it is only 10 mins walking-distance from any on-campus apartment. Go towards west to find School of Enginneering building, then look for the tennis court and you are there. another way is to find the wafflehouse( a hotel), and you are there( Marshell Conference Room, 802 11Street South)

There will be a new movie on This Saturday evening from 6:15-8:15PM at Hill University Center (HUC) Auditorium room (at the first floor), new student can go to front desk asking for direction. The title of movie is BREAKING THE SILENCE (PIAO LIANG MA MA) which is acted by our top actress GONG LI . |
March 4th, 2000 Saturday MOVIE
Our March movie is coming! This time we will show <<Îҵĸ¸Ç〜ĸÇ〜>> (<<My father and mother>>) (<<Wo De Fu Qin Mu Qin>>), which is directed by Zhang Yi Mou. This movie was just awarded the silver bear prize in the Berlin Movie Celebration this month! I hope you will like it.

5:00-9:00pm: CCTV Spring Festival video show, free dumplings will be available from 5:00 to 7:00pm.
9:00-9:30pm: Lottery Gifts time. 15 pieces of gifts are waiting for you to pick up!
9:30-11:30: Dancing Party on the first floor and Karaoke on the second floor. The dancing time is flexible, depending on the atmosphere and your involvement!!!

Januarty 8th, 2000 Saturday MOVIE
This weekend we will show the very very new Chinese millennium celebration film--<<ûÍêûÁË>>(Mei2 Wan2 Mei2 Liao3)!!!
The very hot mainland comedy star ¸ðÓÅ(Ge3 You1), the beautiful Hong Kong actress ÎâÙ»Á«(Wu2 Qian4 Lian1) and the famous Movie Director ·ëС¸Õ (Feng2 Xiao3 Gang1) will present you a wonderful story. Actually I needn't to say so much, because if you ever surfed those Chinese Internet sites these days, you should see lots of articles, commends, fliers talking about this movie. Don't hesitate any more, come on this Saturday!!!

Activity: Show the video record of the Military Parade
Section II:
Time: 7:00-10:30pm, Saturday, October 2nd, 1999
Place: UAB, International House
Activity: National Day Party, include the following items:
- (1) Karaoke: In the second floor of I-house. More than 200 Chinese Pop music Karaoke songs will be provided. Don't miss the chance to show your singing talent!
(2) Riddle Contest: Solve one riddle, Win one prize!!! After you access the I-House, you will get our contest paper, about 50 Chinese traditional riddles are printed on it. Come on to guess!
(3) Lucky Lottery: More than $200 prize are waiting for you! 10 persons will become our most lucky persons at that night! Join us to try your luck!!! (Announce the result at about 8:15pm)
(4) Dance party: our annual reserve activity, will be held after all the items above been done.
Brief Summary:
First of all, I would like to say "Thank you!" to all the people joined our wonderful National Day Party! I am very glad to see most of you enjoyed the October 2nd night. Your active participation is the BEST reward to the effort of CSSA!!!
We will improve the quality of our parties step by step and hope more and more friends would get involved in our future activities!
Secondly, I should say CONGRATULATIONS to those who won our Lucky Lottery prize. Especially one couple, both of them won our prize. This sounds a bit unbelievable! They are really the luckiest family in our party! I also encourage those "seems unlucky persons" to join our future parties, because we will increase the number of luck persons in our next party definitely! I hope all of you could win the prize.

September 25, 1999, Saturday Mid-Autumn MOVIE
This time we showed <<槻絃溺麼販>> (Nan2 Fu4 Nu3 Zhu3 Ren4), which took the top price at the 1999' Chinese Bai3 Hua1 Movie Award on 9/20/99. Many well known Chinese comedians star in this film, including Zhao Ben Shan, Song Dan Dan, Liang Tian and so on. Moreover, Zhao Ben Shan won the best acting honors in the Bai Hua Movie Award just due to his excellent performance in this film.
This film tells the story of a warm hearted man (acted by Zhao Ben Shan) who acts as the deputy director of women affairs in a northeast Chinese village.
Good chance to have a look of the best and latest Chinese Movie and those familiar actors and actresses!!!
August 28, 1999, Saturday MOVIE PARTY
The 2 movies shown are <<右遷菊>> (<<Lotus Lantern>>), (bao3 lian2 deng1) and <<碕弼禅繁>> (<<A time to remember>>), (hong2 se4 lian4 ren1).
<<Lotus Lantern>> is the latest and best Chinese carton film now in China theaters. It is took more than 4 years and cost over 12 million RMB to accomplish this huge carton drama. That is really amazing!
<<A time to remember>> is stared by Zhang Guo Rong, the famous actor of Hong Kong. This film described a really romantic love story in Chinese revolution days. By the way, most part of this movie is spoken in English, Chinese caption is available.
