THELMA (p.34-51) 

     Thelma sits with Mrs. Watts on the train to Harrison.  She is traveling by herself and is going to stay with her family.  She watches Mrs. Watts’s suitcase for her and wishes Mrs. Watts good luck.  Mrs. Watts tells Thelma that if she had a daughter that she would want her to be just like Thelma is.

 

1st TICKET MAN (p.32)

     He tells Mrs. Watts that Bountiful is not on the map and ends up selling her a ticket to Harrison instead.  He does not except her pension check as a payment for a ticket.

 

2nd TICKETMAN (p.39)

     Ludie ask this ticket man if he had seen Mrs. Watts, but the man just arrived for duty right after Mrs. Watts bought her ticket so he told Ludie no.

 

Harrison Ticket Man (ROY) (p.46-55)

     He is the ticket man at the Harrison bus station and he helps Mrs. Watts find her purse.  He also helps the sheriff by watching Mrs. Watts and making sure that she does not go anywhere until Ludie arrives to pick her up.

 

SHERIFF (p.52-60)

     Helps Ludie and Jessie Mae look for Mrs. Watts as she is searching for Bountiful.  He takes Mrs. Watts to Bountiful after she pleaded for him to let her go there.

 

MAN (p.32)

     Stands in front of Mrs. Watts and waits in line to purchase a ticket to Leighton.
