Tolkien once wrote a poem titled "Over the Hills and Far Away" that can be found in the Book of Lost Tales 1. You can find the exact page at The Index of Verses by J.R.R. Tolkien special thanks to Dan Stephens and svperstar@aol.com for this information]When I started this page, I had been told that this song was related to Aragorn and Arwen, but I wasn't sure how. Since, I have received a few e-mails, so here you go:
"Hey lady, got the love i need and maybe, more than enough
oh, darlin, darlin, darlin walk a while with me"
Frodo sees Tom Bombadil's wife, this beautiful woman who is depicts that of mother nature. After leaving, frodo forgets to say good bye to Tom's wife, and then suddenely she appears out of nowhere and walks with frodo and the others and eventually leaves them to their journey.
I'm writing in response to the question on how the song "Houses of the Holy" may be related to Aragorn and Arwen...I'm not really sure myslef but looking over the lyrics to the song I saw a few things that might be related..again this is nothing I can prove just something I see. the lines "many times I've gazed along the open road" suggest something about him..being a ranger and always wondering..then the part of "mellow is the man who knows what he's been missing" Didn't he love Arwen once and Elrond told him that he could not have her..just before he was turned out by Elrond to persue his destiny? And he knew what he was missing..Arwen and that he would not get her unless everything turned out..then the lines "guessing about a thing you really ought to know"..didn't Elrond hint to him of his destiny but would not tell him of the entire thing? wich kind of ties in with the words "many times I've wondered how much there is to know"
